“Keep me away from the wisdom that does not cry, the philosophy which does
not laugh and the greatness which does not bow before children.”
Kahlil Gibran
Hello. My name is Grian McFadden, though most of my life I was mistakenly called Patricia (see blog on changing my name). Most of my childhood mentors were cleverly disguised as characters in books. Everything I ever needed to know I learned from Charlotte, Peter Rabbit, Laura and Mary, Bilbo Baggins, Sara Crewe and the Fossil sisters. Sadly, I lost track of many of these dear friends during my decades of trying to be a grown-up. Deciding that adulthood was vastly over-rated, I found my way back to the World of Make-Believe through the door marked WRITER.
In the past ten years, I have collected a writer’s usual pile of rejection slips, a few publishing credits and a backpack full of colorful characters, thrilling plots and memorable settings. I also have collected a hefty collection of writing tips and publishing lore. This website is all about sharing these riches with anyone who can use them. Mostly, though, it’s about crying, laughing and–especially–bowing before children.
